Seville-CIEE

• This is an IU Co-Sponsored Program
• Semester Program with Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) at the University of Seville

• "Communication, New Media, and Journalism" program* track
• 15 IU credits
• All courses taught in Spanish
• Courses in language, communications, media, humanities and social sciences taught in Spanish at the CIEE study center or at the Universidad de Sevilla for international students only
• 1-2 courses optional at the Universidad de Sevilla (spring program only, availability pending placement test results)
• Please note: Independent study is not an option for IU students on this program. Students cannot earn credit for independent study on the Seville CIEE program.

• Standard Housing: within 50 minutes of CIEE center
  • Single room at a homestay
    • Three meals per day are included
  • Single room at a residence hall
    • Meals are not included. Students have access to studio apartment kitchens
• Select Housing: within 30 minutes of CIEE center

    • Meals are not included. Students have access to studio apartment kitchens
  • Additional fee applies to this housing option
• Indiana University will not support plans for students to obtain independent housing. 

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your third full-time semester of college
• have taken or are enrolled in fourth semester college-level Spanish with a B average
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Personal expenses and vacation travel additional. Initial prepayment of $500 due March 21, 2023.

Spring 2024

• IU portion of fee: $241.95
• CIEE portion of fee* paid to IU bursar: $18,002.50 (academic fees, standard housing, all meals for those in a homestay (no meals included in apartment option), orientation, local excursions, cultural activities, and medical insurance)
• Meals (Apartment Option): $1,040
• International Airfare: CIEE estimates $1,250 (for East Coast departures)
