Given the multidimensional nature of study abroad, a range of policies and protocols are in place to govern and direct various aspects of procedures and operations of Education Abroad.
Education Abroad makes available written policies that cover a wide array of areas, including student eligibility, application, admission and program participation; health, safety and security measures and actions; new program development, program monitoring and reauthorization; collaboration and interaction with external program providers; and withdrawal, refund and non-payment policies.
Education Abroad endorses the Standards of Good Practice and the Code of Ethics of the Forum on Education Abroad and endeavors to use them as a guideline when creating, monitoring, and evaluating IU programs.
