Rome-ICCS

• This is an IU Co-Sponsored Program
• Semester Program through Duke University
• Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome (ICCS) was established in 1965 by representatives of ten American colleges and universities
• Typical enrollment: 36 students from U.S. colleges and universities

• Students study the archaeology and history of ancient Rome
• Intermediate and advanced level instruction in classical languages
• Optional elementary Italian course
• Competitive admissions process

Course Load

• 12-15 IU credits per semester from available courses
• Four to five courses, including required course in Latin or Greek
• Required 6-credit course "The Ancient City"

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your second full-time semester of college
• are majoring in Classical Studies, archaeology or art history (with strong classical interests)
• have approximately a 3.0 cumulative GPA

Note: Prospective applicants should consult with the ICCS institutional representative in the IUB Department of Classical Studies in advance of submitting an application.

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.
