• Summer Program with Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra
• This summer program fulfills the IUB general education World Languages & Cultures requirement (College BA majors are still required to fulfill four semesters of a language)

• CIEE Study Abroad "Summer Community Public Health" program* track 
• Courses taught in Spanish by local faculty and practitioners with IES students 
• Practicum in Spanish in rural and urban communities working alongside local health promoters, medical practitioners, and IES students

CIEE Housing options

Standard Housing: Includes a single room in a homestay. Homestays feature a kitchen, living room, and bathroom shared with a host family, along with weekly laundry service. Although families may be able to communicate in English, most speak only Spanish. 

Select Housing: Includes a studio with an independent entrance attached to a family house. Independent studios are usually medium-sized and boast a private room, living area, and a small kitchenette or access to a shared kitchen. Laundry is not included. Select housing requires an additional fee. 

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your second full-time semester of college
• have taken or are enrolled in fourth semester college-level Spanish with a B average
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.
