Legon-CIEE

• This is an IU Co-Sponsored Program
• Semester Program with Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) at the University of Ghana

• "Arts and Sciences" program track* with CIEE 
• Courses at the University of Ghana in a wide variety of subjects taken alongside Ghanaian and international students  
• Option to do unpaid, 3-credit internship placement (approximately 8hours/week) with accompanying seminar (with CIEE participants) 
• Independent study is not allowed.

• CIEE housing options include:
  • Standard housing
    • single room in homestay with shared bathroom (two meals/day included)
    • Triple or quad room (shared bathroom) at off-campus student hostel (within 45 minute commute to CIEE Legon)
  • Select Plus housing
    • Double room in off-campus housing (within 20 minute commute to CIEE Legon)
    • additional fee charged directly to students
• Note: Indiana University will not support plans for students to obtain independent housing. Students are required to live in program-provided housing in Legon

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Prior coursework with African Studies content is strongly recommended.

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.
