• 25-30 students from IU, Universities of Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, and Michigan State

• Courses taught in German with German and international students. 
• All students enroll in a Pre-session language course in September
• During Wintersemester (October-February) and Sommersemester (April-August), students choose from classes taught at a variety of institutions in Freiburg (see Course Equivalencies accordion for more information)

• AYF housing options include:
  • Single room in shared University dormitories with German and international students
  • Accommodation in 13 different buildings in 4 different residence hall complexes, including Händelstraße, Vauban, Stühlinger, and StuSie
• Note: Indiana University will not support plans for students to obtain independent housing. Students are required to live in program-provided housing in Freiburg

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have taken or are enrolled in fifth semester college-level German
• have approximately a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.2 GPA in German language coursework

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.
