Vienna-IES

• This is an IU Co-Sponsored Program
• Semester Program with IES Abroad
• Center located at Palais Corbelli, an 18th-century palace in the heart of Vienna

• IES Abroad "Business, Economics & International Relations," "European Society & Culture," or "Psychology & Social Sciences" programs*
• Courses in a wide variety of subjects taught in English and German for IES Abroad students only  
• Direct-enroll coursework at Universität Wien available in a variety of disciplines (Spring semester only)  
• Option to do unpaid, 3-credit internship placement with accompanying seminar (with IES Abroad participants) 
  • 4-10 hours/week (depends on field)
  • Placements in arts and culture, business, education, or public service

The program will satisfy the IUB Gen Ed World Languages and Culture Requirement.

• IES housing options include:
  • Studio
    • One-room apartment with a full-size bed, private bathroom, and study space
    • Amenities include a gym, WiFi, on-site laundry, bike share, and more
  • Shared
    • Fully furnished and up to six students per suite
    • 1-2 twin beds per bedroom
    • Amenities include WiFi and laundry access, plus a shared kitchen, bathroom, and common space
  • Studio Plus
    • Features some of the same amenities as a studio apartment, plus a private kitchenette. Beneficial for those with specific dietary, sleep, and/or study requirements.
• Commute time from an apartment to the Vienna IES Center will vary. Students should be prepared for an up to 40-minute commute. 
• Note: Indiana University will not support plans for students to obtain independent housing. Students are required to live in program-provided housing in Vienna.

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Business majors must have (or will have) successfully completed the KSB prerequisites of the Business Integrative Core (or equivalent coursework at an IU campus outside Bloomington) by the start of the program

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Financial Aid and Scholarships:

• IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs with some exceptions. Please carefully check these exceptions before you commit to a program.

• IU Deborah F. Tobias Study Abroad Scholarships of $1,250-1,750, awarded on basis of financial need and academic merit; women preferred

• IES Abroad guaranteed aid of up to $7,000 (semester) or up to $3,000 (summer) based on confirmation of official FAFSA Expected Family Contribution. See details. Also see IES Abroad Scholarships and Aid available.
