• This is an IU Co-Sponsored Program
• Semester Program with IES Abroad
• Center located in a newly renovated 1920s-era building and situated in the heart of Rome
• Field trips and cultural events offered by IES Abroad

• Courses taught in English at IES center for IES Abroad students only 
• IES "Art History & Fashion" "Early Childhood Education+" "Film & Media Studies" "History & Classics" "International Relations" "Language & Area Studies" or "Sociology & Religion" program* 
• All students must take required Italian language course; language level based on placement exam 
• Optional, unpaid 3-credit internship or community-based service learning 
• Students can choose to take a course at a local institution including:Academia di Costume e Moda, Rome University of Fine Arts, Universitàdegli Studi Roma Tre

• Furnished apartments with 4-7 IES students in a shared bedroom
  • Option to live with Italian Student Companion (ISC), a local Italian student who provides opportunities to engage in cultural activities.

• Note: Indiana University will not support plans for students to obtain independent housing

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

No Italian language background required.

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Financial Aid and Scholarships:

• IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs with some exceptions. Please carefully check these exceptions before you commit to a program.

• IU Scott C. Schurz Study Abroad Scholarships of $2,500-$5,000

• IES Abroad guaranteed aid of up to $7,000 (semester) or up to $3,000 (summer) based on confirmation of official FAFSA Expected Family Contribution. See details. Also see IES Abroad Scholarships and Aid available.
