• Center located in a newly renovated 1920s-era building and situated in the heart of Rome
• This summer program fulfills the IUB general education World Languages & Cultures requirement (College BA majors are still required to fulfill four semesters of a language)

  • 25 hours per week
  • Placements available in archaeology, art, art history & humanities, business, community service, entrepreneurship, environment, international cooperation & development, international relations, immigration and social inclusion, IT, journalism, logistics, marketing & accounting, media, political science, social action, and visual arts

• Furnished apartments with other IES students in a shared bedroom 
  • Typically 4-7 students in each apartment, 2-3 students ahring a bedroom
  • Option of living with an Italian Student Companion (ISC), a local Italian student who provides opportunities to engage in cultural activities.
• Residence Hall single or double rooms
  • located within a 15 to 20 minute commute to the IES Rome center

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

No Italian language background required. Students with more advanced Italian will have a wider array of internship options available.

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Financial Aid and Scholarships:

• IU Schurz Career Success Scholarship of $1,500-$2,500
