The co-sponsored semester program in Rome allows students to experience living and studying in one of the most famous centers of ancient civilization. Students take courses in English at the CIEE Global Institute with other students from U.S. institutions. They can also pursue an internship or service-learning project as part of their studies.

This program is restricted to students admitted to the Kelley School of Business.
The program will satisfy the IUB Gen Ed World Language and Culture Requirement.

Course Load
18 IU credit hours
- CIEE courses taught in English for U.S. students only
- 3 credits of Italian language (based on placement test)
- 15 credits of business and general education coursework in English
- Two courses per block*
- *CIEE allows a minimum of 15 credits for enrollment; Indiana University students are required to enroll in 18 credits (two classes during each of the three blocks).
- All classes must be taught in-person from the CIEE Rome Center (internship and service learning included). Exceptions to take a synchronous, online-taught CIEE class (from another CIEE Open Campus site) will only be granted on the basis of academic rationale, and permission from Education Abroad is required.
- Please note: Independent study is not an option for IU students on this program. Students cannot earn credit for independent study on the Rome CIEE program.

- Program Eligibility
You may apply if you:
- are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
- are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
- are an admitted Kelley business student
- have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA
No Italian language background required.
Business majors must have (or will have) successfully completed the KSB prerequisite of the Business Integrative Core (or equivalent coursework at an IU campus outside Bloomington) by the start of the program
Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.
Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.
