Greece-CYA

• This is an IU Co-Sponsored Program
• Summer Program with College Year in Athens (CYA)

• CYA summer courses (4 credits each) are offered in two consecutive 4-week sessions that run between late May and late July. IU students can participate in either session or both sessions.  
• Courses taught in English for CYA participants in various cities throughout Greece 
• Students seeking to fulfill the IUB general education World Languages & Cultures requirement must choose both sessions (totaling 8 weeks and 8 credits). See additional course information. 
• Students may not take CYA/DIS joint courses (“Tasting Culture” or “Young Adults Under the Influence in Europe”) or a 6-week session course.

• CYA Housing options include:
  • For courses in Athens
    • double room in a furnished apartment with 5-6 other U.S. students
  • For courses based on islands:
    • double or triple room in a hotel
• Linens (sheets and pillowcases, towels, blankets) are provided
• Hotel accommodations arranged by CYA for excursions
• Summer students only:  Linens are laundered in conjunction with regular housekeeping services.

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your second full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Note: CYA summer courses are physically demanding. As a student enrolled in CYA summer courses, you will probably walk much more than you do normally and you may experience many new physical demands in your daily routine. Please prepare accordingly.

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Initial prepayment of $500 due upon acceptance to confirm participation.

Financial Aid and Scholarships:

• Most IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs, only if you are enrolled in 6 credits in IU summer sessions.
