• Semester Program on the European Union with IES Abroad EU Center in Freiburg

• IES Abroad "European Union: Politics, Law, & Economics” program, featuring a European Union Studies integrative seminar and Model EU simulation 
• Courses taught in English by local faculty at the IES Abroad Center for IES Abroad students only 
• Elementary and intermediate German language courses available 
• Three course-related excursions to different part of the EU (included in program), totaling approximately 22 days  
• Option of unpaid, post-program internship with political parties, governance bodies, and NGOs, where available (additional fees apply; spring semester only; students must follow the non-IU program procedures and will need to work with their academic department to secure an IU course equivalent)

• IES housing options include:
  • Private, single room in a co-ed suite in university apartments with German and international students
  • Shared kitchen and bath
• Note: Indiana University will not support plans for students to obtain independent housing. Students are required to live in program-provided housing in Freiburg

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Financial Aid and Scholarships:

• IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs with some exceptions. Please carefully check these exceptions before you commit to a program.
• IES Abroad guaranteed aid of up to $7,000 (semester) or up to $3,000 (summer) based on confirmation of official FAFSA Expected Family Contribution. See details. Also see IES Abroad Scholarships and Aid available.
