• Summer Internship Program with IES Abroad
• This summer program fulfills the IUB general education World Languages & Cultures requirement (College BA majors are still required to fulfill four semesters of a language)

• IES Abroad "Summer Internship" program* 
• Unpaid, 6-credit internship project with accompanying seminar (with IESAbroad participants) 
• Internship placement of at least 25 hours/week, plus accompanying seminar 
• Placements in architecture, business, communications, education, health, international relations, IT, language instruction, law, media, nonprofit volunteer organizations, and tourism

• Apartment
  • Three to four IES students in double rooms. 
  • Fully equipped kitchens, wifi, washing machines
  • Placements are limited and an additional fee applies
• Homestay
  • Two to three IES students in a home with local residents and students share a double room.
  • Two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) provided

• Indiana University will not support plans for students to obtain independent housing. 

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Note: Beginning in 2017, a criminal record check will be required for any internship placement in education and/or work with children, health-related fields, and non-profit organizations. The process to obtain federal clearance is administered by the FBI and can take 12-14 weeks. See info on State Department website.

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Financial Aid and Scholarships:

• IU Schurz Career Success Scholarship of $1,500-$2,500
• IES Abroad guaranteed aid of up to $7,000 (semester) or up to $3,000 (summer) based on confirmation of official FAFSA Expected Family Contribution. See details. Also see IES Abroad Scholarships and Aid available.
