Barcelona is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city located on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The co-sponsored Business and Culture semester program includes a range of center-based course offerings in English and Spanish for U.S.-based students. Interested students can enroll in courses for international students at a local university or participate in an internship opportunity.

- Program Organization
- This is an IU Co-Sponsored Program
- Semester Program with Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) at the International School of Commerce (ESCI)
- Program Dates
* Spring students have the option of remaining for the third trimester which ends in late June / early July. Students enroll in 3 ESCI classes or 2 ESCI courses and a Spanish language class. Students who choose this option are required to pay a supplemental fee. See staff for more details.

- Business and non-business related courses taught in English and Spanish at the CIEE study center for U.S. students
- Enrollment in one course at the International School of Commerce (ESCI) or at Universitat de Vic (UVIC) in English or Spanish with Spanish students (depending on language level)
- Optional, unpaid 3-credit internship (placements available in English and Spanish)
- 8-10 hours/week (min. 135 hours per semester)
- Placements in Accounting, Communications, Finance, Graphic Design, Human Resources, Marketing, Sales
This program is restricted to students admitted to the Kelley School of Business.
The program will satisfy the IUB Gen Ed World Languages and Culture Requirement.
Course Load
- 15-16 IU credits
- 3 credits in Spanish Language
- 9 credits taught at the CIEE center
- 3-4 credits at ESCI or UVIC

- Program Eligibility
You may apply if you:
- are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
- are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
- are an admitted Kelley business student
- have taken or are enrolled in first semester college-level Spanish with a B average
- have approximately a 3.0 cumulative GPA

Business majors must have completed (or will complete) the KSB prerequisite of the Business Integrative Core (or equivalent coursework at an IU campus outside Bloomington) by the start of the program
Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.
Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

- CIEE portion of fee* paid to IU bursar: $18,952.50 (academic fees, housing, two meals per day for those in a homestay (no meals are included for the residence hall or apartment options), orientation, local excursions, cultural activities, and medical insurance)
- Additional Meals: $600 - $1,168
- International Airfare: CIEE estimates $1,200 (for East Coast departures)
