Reason you chose this program: I wanted to endeavor in a new and interesting aspect of today’s music technology.
Decribe your favorite classes abroad: I took courses in designing sounds using photos or images where we selected certain aspects of the images (i.e. brightness or transparency) and applied it to a pre-recorded sound to produce a different sound.
Describe the housing situation: In Paris, we were assigned housing on the 20 "arrondissement" around Paris. My housing was located in number 19. I lived with a family: a couple, two sons and a cat. They where very polite and kind. The first day they showed me the center of Paris and the Eiffel tower. I had dinner with them once or twice a week. I also had a chance to see some of the soccer world championships. Overall, I had tons of fun.
Advice to future study abroad participants: I would tell future students to be open-minded, be curious, be daring and go for it!! It will definitely be worth it. You might never know what you’re missing.
"If I could do it over, I would..." …visit all the museums that I couldn't visit. I would have also taken some instrument lessons and classes on french language. I will definitely treasure all the good memories.
What do you know now that you didn't know before you went abroad? I know how to setup a program to control sensors and lightning for performance. Also how to use images to filter and add some characteristics to a pre-exeisting sound. There are so many ways to make or design the same sound in various ways. Even in conjucture with other programs creating a more complex presentation or work.
