Dear Colleague:
According to our records you were the organizer, leader, or instructor of an activity abroad through a unit or campus of Indiana University during the calendar year 2023.
We have a reporting structure in place to facilitate our complying with the federal law known as the Clery Act which requires disclosure of information regarding certain criminal offences that occurred, on or off campus. See Clery Act Responsibilities document for more details about the law and its requirements.
Please provide basic information about your program, including its name, dates of operation, housing address(es) abroad and the address of the local police station with jurisdiction over any property that you arranged for as part of your program activities.
IU is required to provide this information for all locations that were secured for program or student use through a rental agreement, lease, or contract.
This includes classroom space and/or accommodations in dormitories, guest houses, hotels or other housing facilities arranged for participants in your program to stay for more than 2-3 days.
The next required step involves IU being in touch with the local police you have listed to formally request information about crimes in that locale during the time your program was in operation. This is required by the Clery Act so it is imperative that you provide, as requested in the survey, the contact information for the police with jurisdiction over the area where your program was located.
Complete one form for each program location.
