Students will learn pertinent architectural history on IUPUI’s campus for six weeks, prior to traveling to Italy. Students will use the historical sites visited in Italy as their learning laboratory. Students will be required to photograph various architectural elements within the visited historical sites. Students will use cross-cultural communication skills and strategies in their professional interaction with local community members from all walks of life. Students will make connections between their experiences in Italy with experiences in the USA.

- Academic Program
Students on the program must enroll in ART 21000 (History of Architecture). This course is worth 3 credits. The course focuses on architectural history through formal lectures, course readings, exploration of historical architectural sites, and critical reflection. This course is required for all interior design majors.
The available coursework is particularly suited for, but not necessarily limited to, the following academic interests: Interior Design and Engineering and Technology.

- This program is open to all IUPUI undergraduate students who are in their sophomore, junior, or senior year.
- Students must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Students must be in good standing with IUPUI
- No language background is required
- Students from any IUPUI school are invited to participate
- Students must have completed at least one course related to cultural understanding*
